Where the mind is fearless, where the head is high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the walls of the house do not imprison it day and night in its courtyard, but divide it into pieces;
Where words rise from the source of the heart, clear as a stream;
Where tireless effort stretches out its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason does not lose itself in the dry desert sands in the purity of unconscious habits;
Where the mind is guided by you in ever-increasing work, in the heaven of freedom—
Awaken my country, O Father, to that heaven.
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by Thee into ever-widening thought and action—
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.
The fearless, the high;
Knowledge is free.;
The walls of the house do not break into pieces;
The word comes from the heart as a source;
As tireless effort stretches the arm to perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason is not lost in the serenity of unconscious habits in the dry desert sand;
As the mind is led by thee to ever-increasing work in the heavens of freedom—
Awaken in that heaven, O father, my country.
